Proposals – Campus de Pensadoras Urbanas

The Campus was formed as a joint
initiative of three international networks who responded to the call of the
World Urban Campaign of UN Habitat: the Huairou Commission, Mujeres
Iberoamericanas en Red (MIRA) and Federación de Mujeres Municipalistas de
América Latina y el Caribe (FEMUM ALC).

The overall objective of this Campus
was to develop a proposal “For the right to an egalitarian, inclusive,

Initially, they conducted a
systematization of the proposals of the cities belonging to the Campus,
arranged according to the 22 thematic papers drawn up by UN Habitat. In
addition, we have added a 23rd paper on Older Persons.

The primary purpose of this area is
to mainstream gender perspective into all components of the New Agenda of
Habitat, within the framework of human rights. Hence the importance of adopting
the principles on which the Charter of Human Right in the City is sustained; as
an international legal instrument to ensure the full exercise of citizenship
for women and men on equal terms.
