Global Report of HIC Activities in Rio de Janeiro

On the occasion of the World Urban Forum 5 held in Rio in March 2010, HIC has been involved in several activities as the Gender Equality Action Assembly, the networking events. Other events the Coalition participated in were about the Right to the City with Social Justice and its implementation, the Urban Conflicts, Mega Events and Evictions. HIC also marked its presence with a booth in the institutions’ exhibition space.

HIC has also been also involved in the Urban Social Forum, which was held in parallel to the WUF, as a space for the civil society organizations.

Being in Rio was an opportunity for HIC to organize its annual meetings: General Assembly and Board Meeting, as well as to learn more about local social movements while visiting the largest “favela” in Latin America.
