Climate justice and human rights to habitat in Latin American cities

In the periphery of COP26 but the centre of Climate Justice. In parallel to COP26, social and environmental movements have converged in Glasgow under the People’s Summit for Climate Justice.

Together with several grassroots organisations from Bolivia, El Salvador and Peru, on 7 November, Adriana Allen joined the People’s Summit to discuss why Climate Justice is a Habitat Right.

The event made visible the demands and proposals of the women and men that live in Latin American cities in conditions of poverty, despite this they have been developing practices to combat climate change from their communities. The event aimed to emphasise the necessity of advancing the implementation of climate justice measures within the framework of the New Urban Agenda and the SDG 11.
